My name is Jessica and I am the face behind Tiny Tykes Childcare. I am 31 years old, with two children of my own, Silas and Abel. My husband, Anthony, is 38. I have worked with children most of my life and have experience working with children with a wide variety of needs. I can speak English, Sign Language, and Mandarin. I am CPR and First Aid certified, and am a certified Early Childhood Educator.
Tiny Tykes Childcare is a home-based, licensed childcare center located on Brooks Avenue, close to Robertson Elementary School. My childcare has its own level of the home, allowing me to care for children in a home-like setting, while still providing the structure of a center-based program. I follow a flexible daily schedule, with plenty of time for free play, both indoors and out, ensuring every little one's needs are met at all times. My childcare follows a play-based preschool curriculum that allows me to introduce the children to a variety of topics without the pressure of a typical school program. This provides children plenty of opportunity to expand their knowledge about the world, and fosters an early love for learning. Our daily activities are logged through Brightwheel, and parents are able to access this freely to follow along with our day. I am a big fan of crafting, and love to channel that with the children in my care. The children have open access to our art supplies throughout the day, and are provided the opportunity to join us in more structured art activities that relate to our monthly theme. Children thrive on sensory play, and so we have plenty of time with play doh, sensory boxes, and time with a variety of different materials like paint, glue, feathers, and more. We love to learn through hands-on experience and use of the arts. We have a teacher that comes into the childcare every Wednesday for a weekly music lesson, and you can often find us singing, dancing, and baking. We love visiting the park, taking local fieldtrips, and going for exploration walks around the neighborhood. I follow a monthly meal plan, set by the Canada Food Guide, with every child in my care receiving breakfast and an afternoon snack served at designated meal times at no extra cost. I encourage parent involvement and have an open door policy in place allowing parents to drop in at any time they wish.
Children are my passion and I aim to ensure that every child in my care knows they are precious and loved.
